SINTEF is the largest independent research organization in Scandinavia. SINTEF is a broadly based, multidisciplinary research concern that possesses international top-level expertise in technology, medicine and the social sciences. SINTEF is an independent, non-commercial organization. The profits of their contract research projects are invested in new research, scientific equipment and competence development. SINTEF has about 2000 employees from 75 different countries. The SINTEF Industry division has a broad experience of different CO2 capture technologies utilizing absorption solvent, membranes and solid sorbents. The Process Chemistry and Functional Materials group involved in 3D-CAPS has a broad experience in the development of porous adsorbents for CO2 capture (MOFs, Zeolites, Activated Carbon, etc.); preparation of sorbents, characterization of the solids, measurement of their sorption properties (equilibrium and kinetic measurements), reactor modelling and sorbent evaluation using different reactor concepts (CFB, PSA, MBTSA, rotating fixed bed). Post- and pre-combustion, biogas upgrading as well as natural gas sweetening have been studied through the last 10 years.
